It is all good news (this week that is!) that crash diets do work and will the effects can last. I think the actual bottom line is that if you can train your eyes, ears, heart and brain to work together into accepting the combination of small portions and no fat, carbs, dairy or sugar then the long lasting effects will be that you eat healthy always.
Having been an avid non-crash dieter and quite anti the strategies, I have this week embarked on a crash diet recommended by a personal trainer from the gym on holiday!!
The menu details only fruit, veg, rice (preferably brown) and brown bread with plenty of water and coffee if desired (having given up the dreaded caffeine a year ago I have been tempted occasionally this week into drinking it or at least into wanting to do so).
At first thought all my senses were screaming ‘no’ at the ridiculousness that was to be my intended staple for 6 months. However, I embarked on the eating plan with exercise every other day and on the non-gym days it involves long fast power walks approximately 40 mins. Coupled with this is my penchant for quick workouts and being somewhat a fan of the T25 workouts (focus for 25 minutes) involving max interval training with short recovery periods in between.
However, after 5 days, I already see and feel a difference!
There is a long road ahead (5 months and 3 weeks!) but it feels possible…
1. It’s all about the glow, so highlighters and luminizers are your new beauty BFFs. Remember to highlight the T zone, if you want a fresh faced look then neutral colours on the eyes are a must. Otherwise go for metallics and the colour blue is very on trend now.
2. Naturally Topshop have nailed all the trends again! But at £28 this is an accessory must have…
3. Bronze and mesh metallic biker boots, this is 3 trends in one; namely metallic, buckles, biker boots £29.99 Style Edit … WOW
4. Helen Mirren aged 65 is the new face of L’Oreal and this couldn’t be better news, in both terms of age and the fact that she is British!!!
5. Twenty Four a new type of fitness craze lasting 24 minutes. A new high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class that promises to push your metabolic rate higher, meaning that just 24 minutes of exercise is equivalent to a 60-minute jog. The class is structured around a routine of six key moves, with as many reps done of each as you can in an allocated time, followed by a short rest, before doing another.

The great thing about fashion is that it always looks forward
World famous fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has died at 82. Here are Maison Du Vann we are a huge fan of all his work. From Jackie O to Sarah Jessica Parker, he dressed some of the world’s most famous and glamorous women.
Possibly the U.S.’s most noted fashion designer, Mr. de la Renta managed to stay relevant for more than six decades. Even in his final days, he was the go-to designer for celebrity brides and socialites who flocked to his rich, ever-feminine designs, which radiated wealth and power. He dressed Amal Alamuddin in September for her wedding to George Clooney.
Mr. de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic, then got his start in the 1950s as an assistant to Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga. Mr. Balenciaga was noted for his daring approach to volume, which certainly trained Mr. de la Renta’s eye for proportion. But the American designer—who later designed for Lanvin and Balmain—kept versatility as his mark. He designed for every era’s jet set in his lifetime—from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Babe Paley and Zsa Zsa Gabor , to Beyoncé, Sarah Jessica Parker and Penélope Cruz.
When it comes to shopping for your makeup its more likely that you’d head to a department store than your local pound shop. But this week high street pound emporium poundland have launched their very own make up range.
The beauty range which has been named Make Up Gallery is a 100-piece range and includes 20 shades of eye shadow, 39 different nail colours as well as a foundation for eight skin tones.
Poundland has been trying to overcome the snobbery associated with the store and brush off the “cheap and nasty” image. Poundland’s beauty team expects the best sellers in the make-up range to include a long-lasting foundation, volumising and lengthening mascara with a conditioning formula, quick-dry nail polish, sheer lip gloss with moisturiser and pressed powder with vitamin E.
It plans to develop the range, on sale later this month, to reflect trends and seasonal changes.
So what do you think? Would you buy your make up from poundland?
This week I am going to extol the virtues of a makeover, more precisely, sassy, sexy, shorter hair!!! For so long now sexiness has been equated to the length of our tresses and this can also apply to men (remember Ollie Locke in the early days of MIC?) .
Last week, for some reason I decided that I wanted shorter hair, I know that psychologically it points to a change in circumstances, or physical differences e.g. weight loss, and usually I would be at pains to point out that this is not the case, or is it…
I have felt a shift for the last few months, like huge tidal waves of change are approaching and as per my mantras and karmic values I do embrace all manner of situational flotsam and jetsam (new processes within my life!).
A new dawn is approaching and I relish it and all that it will foist upon us, for it is up to us to seek out every new opportunity and to veritably dance in the surf of it all. Even if things do not look how we imagined they would be, they are always inevitably better and definitely for the best.
This being said, after many years of sporting longer tresses I am of resolved mind (and body) and will be doing the ‘chop’. This week Brave Beyonce has sported her new ‘do’ and here we are following suit – with words of warning people and that is to stick to what suits you, how it looks best on you, interpretation of imitation is what we are after!!!
So after much #flirting with the ideas of having a makeover and safe in the knowledge that hair extensions are
See you when I am half cut!!!!
